With its long history of involvement with public facility improvements and housing rehabilitation, Community Development Alternatives, Inc is well-positioned to assist communities and organizations with project planning.  Projects range from flood recovery to economic development initiatives.

As part of the Chaseburg flood recovery project, CDA assisted in the acquisition of twelve homes and four businesses.  Seventeen homes have been purchased and two properties elevated by a variety of grant programs in the Village of La Farge.  The LaFarge Fire Station project was completed with a $1.736 million dollar grant.

CDA authored a successful National Scenic Byways Grant for Potosi.  Located on a peninsula projecting into the east side of the Mississippi River, the proposed Potosi Point Wildlife Observation Platform holds the promise of an attraction unique to Southern Wisconsin and the Great River Road National Scenic Byway.

CDA successfully applied for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for clearing obstructions from the lower Kickapoo River.  Submitted on behalf of Crawford County government, the grant covers the cost of removing all logjams that block flowage, restoring the channel carrying capacity during flood events.  In addition to flood mitigation, the project will also clear the river for canoe navigation and other recreational opportunities that will encourage economic development.

These and similar projects call upon the skills and expertise of the dedicated CDA staff.  By matching needs with available resources, CDA is able to help communities close the gap between their expectations and accomplishments.
